Bonhoeffer’s New York
In October, we hosted our first-ever NYC retreat, Bonhoeffer’s New York—a journey through the footsteps of Dietrich Bonhoeffer during his two transformative stays in the city, first in the early 1930s and then in 1939. We explored key locations from his time here, including the National Arts Club, where Bonhoeffer had a pivotal lunch in 1939 that led him to decide to return to Germany and join the resistance. Other highlights included Heidelberg Restaurant, the Metropolitan Museum (to view the paintings Bonhoeffer referenced in his diary), Grand Central Station, and the Jewish Heritage Foundation.
